Getting the Substrate Ready
Remember to remove the clear protective layer from the substrate's surface (if applicable) and make sure you're working with a clean, lint-free surface before proceeding. When the transfer travels across the sublimatable surface while it is still hot, such as when the press is raised or when removing the transfer from the sublimation surface, a "double image" can occur. To avoid this, make sure you use a sublimation paper sheet that is larger than the surface you're sublimating onto. The paper should be large enough to bind with heat-resistant adhesive to the reverse of your sublimatable blank. Allow the item to cool somewhat before removing the transfer and tape, if feasible.

Dwell Times and Temperature
For all goods, a temperature of 400° F is advised. Close your heat press with moderate to strong pressure—it should take some effort. Depending on your heat-press and the thickness of the blank material, time and temperature may vary. Increase or decrease dwell periods in 5-10 second increments until you find the time that produces the clearest image.
The table below are some of our suggestions for you:

Longer stay times in the laboratory have been found to extend outdoor life. This permits the sublimation inks to penetrate as deeply as possible into the sublimatable coating. However, because of the prolonged dwell period, some fine picture information may be lost.

Substrates with two sides
It is possible to sublimate both sides of some materials at the same time, although this is not encouraged. Sublimate the material's initial side as usual. Allow it to cool fully before taping the second side of your transfer. For the second side, use an enlarged sheet of paper and adhere heat-resistant tape just to the paper.

Keeping Finished Goods
When storing or packing completed sublimated items, extra caution is required. If sublimated items come into direct touch with other sublimatable materials or any form of synthetic material, the inks will eventually migrate from the sublimated piece to the synthetic material. Stacking completed parts face-to-face, whether hot or cold, is not a good idea. For shipping, do not shrink-wrap or place finished parts in plastic bags. Between stacked products, we recommend using a paper sheet or wrapping parts in the paper for shipment.

Durability in the outdoors
While UV absorbers are included in these sublimatable goods to extend their outdoor life, they are not meant for long-term outdoor usage. Depending on the brand of sublimation ink used and the outside climate, fading will occur over time. For information on estimated outdoor life, contact the maker of your sublimation ink.
